Many of today's classrooms are integrating k to 12 online school venues to help in the teaching strategies. There is a simple reason for this, these additional venues help, and with all the budget cuts, our k to 12 online school and teachers need all the help they can get. Online learning assists in augmenting the teaching curriculum, but what if that is taken away, what if the bureaucracy continues to dictate every minor detail in the the teaching of our children k to 12 online school
There was a somewhat interesting article recently in the Wall Street Journal on May 7, 2011 in the Technology Section titled "House Releases 'Do Not Track' Bill" by Steve Stecklow and Julia Angwin, and in the teaser paragraph it stated: "A draft House bill with bipartisan support would prohibit companies from tracking children on the Internet without parental consent, restrict online marketing to minors and require an 'Eraser Button' that would allow parents to eliminate kids' personal information already k to 12 online school
Well, I suppose as parents and teachers we might applaud all this right - sure, protecting our kids online is very serious. However, I would submit to you that many of the online teaching programs track the student's progress, and they need to do that to help us monitor their learning, otherwise we cannot get the benefits out of all these online learning tools, which are being used more and more to augment the classroom work. We are challenged with budgets in our k to 12 online school and need the utmost efficiency, online and Internet leaning systems and programs solve these problems adequately k to 12 online school
If we take away the ability to track the students k to 12 online school and their progress we lose many of the benefits in this regard and personally I am fearful that these strategies might become an unintended consequence of this new "do not track bill" which specifically addresses the tracking of kids online. You see, it's important for the teachers to know how well the students are doing, where they are struggling, or what's causing the challenges in the advancement of their online learning and general education k to 12 online school
